Jazz Revelations: Issue 1 - Leeds

from Jazz Revelations

Book/Magazine

We are beyond excited to launch this magazine project we have been working on and take our first steps to become a printed publication. Our first magazine 'Jazz Revelations: Issue 1 - Leeds' focuses on the Leeds jazz scene.

After spending the last four years producing online content about the wider jazz scene, we decided to create a physical magazine about a scene very close to our hearts, Leeds.

Leeds does not always get the credit it deserves for how amazing its music community is and is often underrepresented in the music media. With our team having a strong base in Leeds, we wanted to create a magazine that shares the amazing music of the city that has brought us so much joy during our time living here.

The magazine will present a coordinated voice on the scene and celebrate the artists who recently have been making waves and proving Leeds is home to one of the best contemporary jazz scenes right now. The magazine features artists in Leeds producing jazz, R&B, neo-soul, hip hop and electronica music.

You can find in-depth interviews, crate digging with artists, release roundups, an extended feature of our radio piece 'On Rotation', looking ahead to the future talent in the city, a little history on the city's scene, plus a mix to accompany your reading. The magazine is audio-described as well for those with different accessibility needs.

The magazine includes features with the following artists:

Phenicia, Vipertime, Yusuf Yellow & August Charles, Jasmine Myra, Sunkissed Child, NikNak, Olivia Cuttill, TC & The Groove Family, Jake Mehew, Plantfood, Naali Collective, Goddess Collective, Ferg's Imaginary Big Band, Heritage, Mica Sefia, Kindelan, Mangorata + many more.

A big thanks goes to Emma Jones for her design work in the magazine, and to Hugh Roberts for the cover design on the magazine and the gig poster. Thanks to Yasmina Nahas for her contribution to the magazine, and Ally J Steel for his support throughout the project.

And a special thanks to Ben Lee, editor-in-chief of the magazine, for producing the whole project. Thank you in advance for purchasing this magazine and supporting the music community in Leeds - enjoy learning more about Leeds jazz.
